Desperation

As I struggle with the loneliness,
That following You brings,
An isolation from the world,
Reaching up for Holy things.

I know Your love is guaranteed,
I know Your love is real,
Still I struggle with the need,
To meet my soul's appeal.

It sometimes cries from deep within,
Desires that must be fed,
Let Your Spirit consume my life,
Let me be Spirit led.

Let Your arms enfold my life,
Let my will respond to Yours,
So I will be obedient,
And walk through open doors.

That You are real there is no doubt,
Even though the lies still come,
The agony of counting cost,
Why don't You take me home?

You shook me from complacency,
You showed me how to pray,
You turned my life right upside down,
And gave me words to say.

I've cried and cried for a way out,
But You've ignored my earnest prayer,
And now surrounded by Your Church,
A people of love, but they don't care.

Despised for doing Kingdom works,
And hated for my belief,
Why don't You call me home right now,
And give me great relief

This was written at a hard time in a hard place and shows the battle between faith in God
and the struggle of the flesh.
