True Light

A light has come into the world,
It is a light that will never die,
Even though it once flickered,
It could not be put out,
It lights the way in darkness,
It guides your feet,
And ignites your soul,
It warms your heart,
And lights your eyes,
It is eternal, fraternal and paternal,
It is warm and loving,
Soft and glowing,
Strong and re-assuring,
It shows hope and promise,
It delivers from terror,
It heals without measure,
And was given in grace and mercy,
It has a name,
Jesus,
Please be my light forever,

This was written especially for a missionary who had seen much suffering in China, whose husband had drifted away from the Lord because of it.
