How Big Is Your God?

April 2010

As we approach God especially for healing, God’s desire is to fulfil all the things He has promised to us. But for many of us do not see the healing He has promised, because we do not have a big enough view of who He is.

So to start we must ask the question sincerely - "How big is your God"?

Psalm 27:1 - The Lord is my light.
Who is your Lord? Many of us have become bound by a gospel that removes us from the God of creation. We have either gone into religion or we have sought favour from men, not God. Religion says "if I do A, B, and C, God will do X, Y, and Z for me." We need to make sure we have the Healing God of the Bible as our Lord and not an imitation. God is not interested in formula, indeed He needs to be the centre of our desires and requests. He created us and it makes sense that He is the one we should go to first when we are broken. Let us be sure to place our faith in the right place. We want to be pleasing to our God.
Hebrews 11:6 ‘And without Faith it is impossible to please Him, for He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.’

What is Faith?
In general it implies such a knowledge of, assent to, and confidence in certain divine truths, especially those of the gospel, as proceeds good works. Without good works, can provide false faith.

Matthew 6:24 shows us the dangers of being double minded. James says a double-minded man is unstable in all he does. James 1:6-8. We cannot place our hope in material things and think we will earn God’s approval. God wants us to be His children. We have been bought with a price - His Blood, and He has fed us with His holy desires. It is these we should be looking to satisfy. Because He has bought us He wants and deserves our trust in all things. We can trust God He only gives good things to His children. Matthew 7:11.
Healing is good, I think you can all agree, God does not want sickness and sin to reign He wants us to enjoy health and happiness

To be truthful many of us still place value, time and effort in things that are temporal, things that will pass away
2 Corinthians 4:18, Hebrews 11:1.

Many of us are still consumed with what "I" can get out of Christianity. This is one of the failings in modern faith teaching. It is centred round "I" and God is always second. There is a slant on using the Bible to store up material wealth, which is far removed from the essence of the Gospel. We need to first seek the Kingdom - not its benefits. The benefits come as we seek His will - not ours. Matthew 6:33.

Matthew 6:25-33. We must not put our trust in providing for our own healing, we will just serve Anxiety [Proverbs 12:25].

We must also be careful not to worship our sicknesses and diseases, They must not become God’s to us. He cannot provide for you if your hands are full. He alone is God and He wants to heal his children.

LIGHT Isaiah 60.20 "Your sun will set no more, neither
will your moon wane, for you will have an everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be finished." [Psalm 18:28].

Jeremiah 31:13 - ‘For I will turn their mourning to Joy, and will comfort them, and give them joy instead of ashes’.

Isaiah 61:3 ‘To grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness. The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.’

The promise is for a light to shine, but we can still choose to live in the darkness.
1 John 1:5 - 1 John 2:2. esp. [7]. "If we choose to walk in the light."

Many of us feel oppressed, afflicted and some have become bitter towards God, but it is because we made the wrong choices. Then the devil gets the credit for all the problems. We forget we have a God who is: OMNISCIENT, OMNIPRESENT and OMNIPOTENT.

Is He not big enough to save us from the oppressor? Biblical history shows that God - when followed by faithful hearts and a people consumed with Him - not their problems, is more than a match for a fallen angel [1 John 4:4].

Daniel 3 - Shadrach Meshach and Abednego.

It’s getting our eyes back on the Lord and taking them off of our problems - this isn’t a denial teaching. The problems may be big but the solution to the problems is bigger. James 4:7.

The Woman With The Issue Of Blood - Luke 8:40-48, Mark 5:21-43, Matthew 9:18-26,Read at Verse 22, Luke 8:47
Also note that the request of the Father in Mark 5:23. He had the faith for her to be saved.

Many people are turning to false religions, cults, and humanistic remedies because they have listened to the lie - God is dead. The Church seems powerless because we are reaching to worldly things, rather than reaching to the healing God of the Bible.
Mark 11:22 ‘And Jesus answered saying to them ‘Have Faith in God’

John 10:10 Satan has done a good work of making most of us his disciples. We have become the bad news not the good news. We have become embittered, jealous and insular. Jesus came that we should have abundant life.

The Church has, over the last thirty years woken up to the fact that Satan is real. Once we discovered he was, we put all our failures, our insecurities on him, and made him a God overnight. Didn’t Jesus say "Come to Me" Matthew 11:27-32. We need to remember He paid the price. We can leave our failures with Him and take what He has achieved by destroying Satan’s lie for all eternity. Hebrews 2:14-15.

If the Lord is your salvation, He will be your defender - The Way, The Truth, The Life
John 14:6

Whom shall I dread - What can man do to me Hebrews 13:5-6.

The Lord is your defence. He is your strong tower.
Undying trust in God, be spiritually and physically bankrupt

2 Corinthians 5:7 ‘For we walk by faith not by sight’
If we do not get healed, straight away, keep asking.
Matthew 7:7-8

Right now, where you are - is God big enough to take you from defeat into victory?

Do you trust Him - He is faithful 2 Timothy 2:10-13.

We can approach Him [ we are clean to approach.]
John 15:3, Hebrews 10:19-23

Isaiah 55:1-3 Come to Me - Matthew 11:28-30, John 7:37

If you do not already know Jesus and you have realised that you need to be released from the power of death and enter into healing life. Then to invite Jesus into your heart this would be your first step.

Jesus says in John 14:6 'I am the way and the truth and the life, No-one comes to the Father except through Me'

Peter said of Jesus
'You have the words of eternal life' John 6:68

The Lord Jesus is ready to help you as soon as you ask to know Him as Lord. Jesus Christ has paid for your sin, my sin and every ones sin by living a life free from sin and dying in our place so that we might know forgiveness of sin, and freedom eternally from the power of death and fear.

The bible says in Romans 10:9-10 'If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.'

Remember you can only deal with your own sin. Everyone has to answer to God for what they have done, but God is merciful and will forgive them too, when they are ready to come to Him. He will always accept you, and makes you the offer now of real, genuine love and resurrection life.

You need to say sorry to God for having offended Him by your sinful actions, and choose to walk in His ways instead. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins, repent of your sins and tell God you need His help to stop living in a way that pleases you, and tell him you want to live to please Him.

Invite Jesus Christ to come and be Lord of your life. Thank Him that He has bought you back from the road of darkness and destruction by giving His life for you, and releasing you from the burdens of rejection, guilt and shame. Bringing you fully into His wonderful light. Thank Jesus for this, and acknowledge His death and resurrection and ask His Holy Spirit to come into you right now and give you the power to change and you will find real acceptance in Him and He himself will show you the way forward.

Next step is to tell someone you have received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and find a church that really loves Jesus and lives for Him.

It will not be easy but will be the greatest and most joyful decision you have ever made.

If you have made this decision today E.Mail us and we will send you a Gospel of John and some helps to get you started in your new and exciting walk with Jesus.
